Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how UPPR (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use the Purp mobile application and related website at purp.app (together, the “Service”).

Purp is a chopped and screwed music player. It processes audio on your device, can browse music via Audius, and may show ads through Google AdMob.

1. Who we are

The Service is provided by UPPR, an IT consulting firm based in Belgium.

  • Website: uppr.be
  • Email: hello@uppr.be
  • Android package: com.uppr.purp

2. Summary

  • Purp does not require an account.
  • Your local music files stay on your device and are processed locally.
  • Preferences and caches are stored on your device.
  • When you use Audius features, requests go to Audius services.
  • The Android app may show ads via Google AdMob and collect advertising-related data subject to your consent choices.
  • We do not sell your personal information.

3. Information we process

3.1 Information stored on your device

Purp stores data locally to make the app work. This typically includes:

  • Mix settings (for example speed, chop feel, and presets)
  • Library and playback preferences (for example last track, Audius fetch mode)
  • Favorite Audius tracks you mark in the app
  • Cached mixed audio files so tracks can reload faster

This data remains on your device (for example in app storage, localStorage, IndexedDB, or the device filesystem). We do not operate a Purp user account database that receives this content.

3.2 Local audio files

If you grant media/storage access, Purp can read audio files or folders you choose (or files shared to the app). Those files are used only to decode, process, and play a chopped & screwed mix. We do not upload your local music library to UPPR servers.

3.3 Audius

If you browse, search, stream, or download tracks from Audius, your device communicates with Audius APIs and content delivery services. That may include search terms, playlist or track identifiers, and network metadata needed to fetch content. Audius processing is governed by Audius’s own policies: audius.co.

3.4 Advertising (Google AdMob)

On Android, Purp may display banner and interstitial ads using Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may collect or process information such as:

  • Advertising ID / device identifiers
  • IP address and approximate location derived from network signals
  • Device and app information
  • Ad interaction and diagnostic data
  • Consent and privacy choices where required

Where required (for example under the EU/EEA GDPR and related laws), Purp shows a consent form before personalized ads are requested. You can change advertising and privacy choices through the in-app consent flow (when available) and your device settings (for example Reset advertising ID / Opt out of Ads Personalization on Android).

3.5 Website

The marketing website at purp.app is a static site. It does not require login. Standard server or hosting logs (if any) may incidentally include IP address and browser information when you visit the site. We do not use the website to run a separate analytics product beyond what hosting may provide by default.

4. Android permissions

Depending on your Android version, Purp may request or use:

  • Internet / network state — to load Audius content and ads
  • Read audio / storage (legacy) — to open local music you choose
  • Advertising ID — for AdMob advertising
  • Foreground service (media playback) and wake lock — to keep playback running while you use other apps

5. How we use information

We use information only to:

  • Provide playback, mixing, library, and Audius features
  • Remember your preferences on device
  • Show ads and measure ad performance (via AdMob)
  • Maintain, secure, and improve the Service
  • Respond to support requests you send us
  • Comply with legal obligations

6. Legal bases (EEA/UK)

Where GDPR (or UK GDPR) applies, we rely on:

  • Contract / service delivery — providing the player features you request
  • Legitimate interests — operating and securing the Service in a proportionate way
  • Consent — where required for personalized advertising and related AdMob processing
  • Legal obligation — when the law requires us to retain or disclose information

7. Sharing

We share information only as needed with:

  • Google AdMob / Google — advertising and related measurement
  • Audius — when you use Audius features in the app
  • Service providers — hosting or infrastructure used to serve purp.app
  • Authorities — if required by law

We do not sell personal information.

8. Retention

On-device data remains until you clear app data, uninstall Purp, or delete it in the app where that option exists. We do not host your music library on UPPR servers. Emails you send to us are kept only as long as needed to handle your request and meet legal requirements.

9. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to a local-first mobile app. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your device and OS up to date.

10. Children’s privacy

Purp is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact hello@uppr.be and we will take appropriate steps.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent. Because most Purp data stays on your device, you can often exercise control by clearing app storage, resetting ad settings, or uninstalling the app.

For requests that involve information we hold (for example support emails), contact hello@uppr.be. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Belgium, the Data Protection Authority).

12. International transfers

AdMob, Audius, and hosting providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, appropriate safeguards are applied by those providers under their policies and contracts.

13. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy, unless applicable law requires additional consent.
